How it began

Our Story

Chapter One — 2019

Where we met

It started with a chance introduction at a mutual friend's dinner in Surry Hills. Charlotte had arrived late; James had taken the last good seat. What followed was an argument about wine — and then, inexplicably, a walk that lasted until 2am.

Chapter Two — 2021

Where we fell

A weekend in the Southern Highlands — booked on a whim, with questionable weather — turned into the trip that changed everything. We found Berrima, we found a shared love of long lunches and slow mornings, and somewhere along the way, we found us.

Chapter Three — 2024

The question

James proposed at sunrise on the headland at Bronte, with a ring his grandmother had worn for forty years. Charlotte said yes before he had finished asking. They both cried. The dog was confused but supportive.

What to wear

Dress Code

The dress code is Garden Formal — refined without being stiff. Think linen suits, silk dresses, and natural fabrics that suit a warm autumn afternoon in the country.

Our colour palette

Earthy tones, warm neutrals, and muted greens work beautifully in the garden setting.

Please avoid

  • White, ivory, or cream (reserved for the bride)
  • Black tie or overly formal attire
  • Very high heels (the lawn may be soft)

For her

  • Midi or maxi dresses in natural fabrics
  • Tailored linen separates
  • Block-heeled or wedge sandals for the lawn
  • Elegant jumpsuits welcome

For him

  • Linen or lightweight wool suits
  • Smart chinos with a blazer
  • Tie optional but encouraged
  • Loafers or leather Oxford shoes

If you're unsure, err on the side of dressed up — and don't forget, March evenings in the Highlands can get cool. Bring a layer.

Frequently Asked

While we love your little ones, this is an adults-only celebration. We hope you'll use it as an excuse for a night out. Immediate family with infants under 12 months are of course welcome — please let us know on your RSVP.

Yes, there is ample on-site parking. However, as many of you will want to enjoy the wine, we'd encourage carpooling or using the shuttle from Moss Vale station. Taxis and rideshare can also be pre-arranged.

Moss Vale station is the closest, serviced by NSW TrainLink from Central Station. The journey takes approximately 1 hour 40 minutes. Our shuttle will depart from the station forecourt at 2:00pm sharp on the wedding day.

We are having an unplugged ceremony. We ask that you keep phones and cameras away during the ceremony itself so you can be fully present — and so our photographer can do their job. There will be plenty of opportunity for photos at the reception.

Absolutely. Please note any dietary requirements on your RSVP form — vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, allergies and everything in between. We want everyone to eat well.

Your presence is the best gift. For those who'd like to give something, we have a small registry with The Establishment and a honeymoon fund — details will be included with your formal invitation.

The celebration concludes at 11:00pm. The shuttle will run back to Moss Vale on the hour from 9pm. Taxis can be pre-arranged — we'll share a number closer to the date.
